Q. What do we do?

Here at Rapid Remaps, specialist technicians connect to the vehicles Engine Control Unit though the vehicles diagnostic socket, via a laptop. Our technicians read the current engine management file and send it over to our technicians, where we customise your file to your specifications. . Our technicians then program the new file into your vehicle.
There are occasions where the vehicles ECU needs to be removed and the chip changed or we will boot load directly in the ECU; this is depends on the model of the vehicle, but all methods have the same outcome.
Q. Is the remapping process safe for the vehicle?
Answer
Rapid Remaps provides a remapping service which only enhances and optimises the power of the engine within the safety limits of the vehicle and not beyond. Remapping a vehicle means there are fewer gear changes which will reduce the overall wear on the car.

Q. Does remapping affect my insurance?
Answer
After any modifications on your vehicle, it is always advised that you inform your insurance company. Rapid Remaps only offers quality services and can provide a certificate of conformity for you to give to your insurance company that will allow your insurance company to see that we have kept within the safety limits of the car.
Can remapping be reversed?
Answer
Yes, on any vehicle we remap, we keep the original file in a secure archive. Your vehicle can be restored the original manufacturers settings.
Q. Will the remapping affect the warranty of manufacturer?
Answer
Some manufacturers will be able to detect the remapping, but many will ignore the changes made, if done by a quality provider; Rapid Remaps.
However if there is a problem that occurs due to the remapping, usually due to a poor quality service, this particular part will not be covered by the warranty.
Q. How does remapping improve your vehicle?
Answer
The process of remapping alters the vehicles fuel, boost and torque characteristics of the engine. This is done by controlling the fuel pressure, the inject fuel quantity, the maximum permissible visible smoke limit, boost pressure from the turbo charger and the torque characteristics.
Rapid Remaps service allows the engine to preform within the existing engine sensor limits.
Q. What is Torque?
Answer
The torque is the twisting force created in the engine by rotating parts. The rate in which the torque is being used, is measured by the Horsepower; the torque and the horsepower are interlinked.
Torque is not necessarily a deciding factor when purchasing a vehicle, unless you intend to be towing or hauling heavy goods.
Q. What is BHP or Break horsepower?
Answer
BHP (Break Horsepower) is the measure of the engines horse power before loss in power, caused by the gearbox, accelerator, and water pump and so on. A chassis dynamometer gives an accurate idea of the cars horsepower after loss, which gives an idea of how the vehicle will perform on the road.
