Rapid Remaps offers quality services by trained specialists, who will ensure that the qualities; low down tractability, reliability and fuel economy, the main qualities that attracted you to a diesel engine, are not to be compromised. When remapping a diesel, we aim to increase these qualities within the safety limits of the car. If you choose to remap or retune your diesel engine, you will notice an improvement in increased horsepower, torque, better throttle response, smoother power delivery and improved fuel economy, along with safer overtaking. We achieve these outcomes by matching parameters, boost pressure, fuel delivery and adjust the maps electronically to limit the torque, throttle response and top speed. All the information is found in the ECU, and is optimised by our trained technicians.

Rapid-Remaps FAQ

Q. What do we do?

Here at Rapid Remaps, specialist technicians connect to the vehicles Engine Control Unit though the vehicles diagnostic socket, via a laptop. Our technicians read the current engine management file and send it over to our technicians, where we customise your file to your specifications. . Our technicians then program the new file into your vehicle.

There are occasions where the vehicles ECU needs to be removed and the chip changed or we will boot load directly in the ECU; this is depends on the model of the vehicle, but all methods have the same outcome.

Q. Is the remapping process safe for the vehicle?

Rapid Remaps provides a remapping service which only enhances and optimises the power of the engine within the safety limits of the vehicle and not beyond. Remapping a vehicle means there are fewer gear changes which will reduce the overall wear on the car.

All vehicles respond differently to remapping, but with a quality remapping service from Rapid Remaps, we optimise the engine, and your car, without pushing the car to its limits, causing engine failure.

Q. Why do manufacturers not optimise the vehicle?

When manufacturers produce a car, they make compromises to the model to take into account the different circumstances the car will be driven in; different weather conditions, tax and emissions regulations and to appeal to all customers. Our specialist team will maximise the engine’s tuning and outputs.

Q. What is remapping?

For a diesel vehicle, to keep within the safety limits and the durability functions of the car’s engine, you need to alter the existing engine control system. Rapid Remap offers this opportunity, through its services, without compromising the vehicle’s safety or performance in anyway. Remapping your car using Rapid Remap, brings many different benefits to your vehicle, including increased power, torque and improved fuel economy.

By choosing Rapid Remaps for this process you will also benefit in the following ways;

  • Once tuned, nothing needs to be connected to the engine to gain the benefits of remapping. Meaning here are no loose boxes or wires in the engine./li>

However if there is a problem that occurs due to the remapping, usually due to a poor quality service, this particular part will not be covered by the warranty.

Q. How does remapping improve your vehicle?

The process of remapping alters the vehicles fuel, boost and torque characteristics of the engine. This is done by controlling the fuel pressure, the inject fuel quantity, the maximum permissible visible smoke limit, boost pressure from the turbo charger and the torque characteristics.
Rapid Remaps service allows the engine to preform within the existing engine sensor limits.

Q. What is Torque?

The torque is the twisting force created in the engine by rotating parts. The rate in which the torque is being used, is measured by the Horsepower; the torque and the horsepower are interlinked.
Torque is not necessarily a deciding factor when purchasing a vehicle, unless you intend to be towing or hauling heavy goods.

Q. What is BHP or Break horsepower?

BHP (Break Horsepower) is the measure of the engines horse power before loss in power, caused by the gearbox, accelerator, and water pump and so on. A chassis dynamometer gives an accurate idea of the cars horsepower after loss, which gives an idea of how the vehicle will perform on the road.
